In the past, there were not many cases of installing landscape lighting in forests

scattered throughout the city. This is because the perception that forests are an important landscape asset of the city was not high, and the idea that leaving the forests in their

natural state was the best way to preserve them.

But now this perception has changed significantly. Forests scattered throughout the city

are also an important asset in themselves, but rather, the recognition emerged as the best tourist resource that can be provided to people who want to enjoy nature as well as a

place for rest and rejuvenation that city dwellers enjoy.

In particular, as the number of residents of cities who visit the forest during the day and

at night is increasing, there is also a movement to make the forest more beautiful by

installing landscape lighting in the forest.

Reflecting this trend, Gwangju Metropolitan City installed landscape lighting in the pine

forest in front of the government building on June 22 to create a night rest space and

provide attractions to citizens.

The landscape lighting was created in a way that effectively expresses the greenness and

natural beauty of pine trees even at night, and focuses on making a three-dimensional

effect, and transmits light upward from the floor.

Orange LED lights were arranged in 79 places according to the location of the pine trees, creating a warm and soft atmosphere. The LED lights here went through test lighting on

June 15, and began to be produced in earnest on June 24, and are turned on and off at

sunrise and sunset.

Gang Yeong-cheon, manager of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Accounting Section, said, "As the time and environment of the main activities of citizens gradually changed from

daytime to night, we will provide a healing space for citizens by creating nighttime

landscape lighting in the pine forest in front of the government building."
