In order for a family, business, society and state to move to a higher level or level, they

must constantly push themselves to a higher level than they are now. When this kind of

effort comes in quantitative terms, people call it "growth."

 

On the other hand, when qualitative change occurs along with quantitative growth, people call it development. What is important is that without this growth and development,

neither individual nor family, nor enterprise, nor industry, nor society and state, can move to a higher level.

 

This is the same when viewed from the perspective of the global lighting industry, lighting market, and lighting ecosystem. In addition to this, another important fact is that this

growth and development never happens accidentally or spontaneously.

 

◆ In the field of Lighting, there is a need for a 'Place of Public Debate'

 

To do this, competent and conscientious individuals who share the purpose and goal of

growth and development must voluntarily gather to form a common organization. And

companies and people whose bodies are part of the industry must gather wisdom and strength together.

 

Only then can a “better future” of improvement and reform, growth and development can be created in one field. More important than this is organizing the driving force for the

sector to grow and develop.

 

The method is to create a 'place of public opinion about lighting' where ideals, ideas, and practices that can motivate growth and development are discussed together.

 

In this way, a “better future” can be created when ideas and action plans that help to

achieve the goal of growth and development are created through public discussion and

implemented in reality.

 

We already know an example like this. For example, the “World Economic Forum” can be

cited as an example in the economic field.

Founded in January 1971 by economist Klaus Schwab, the “World Economic Forum” is an

international private conference where eminent businessmen, economists, journalists, and politicians gather every year to discuss and study the global economy.

 

◆ Case of'World Economic Forum'

 

The “World Economic Forum” operates as an independent non-profit foundation, and its

headquarters are located in Cologny, a city in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

Since its establishment, the “World Economic Forum” has grown into a UN non-governmental advisory organization (NGO) with authority and influence enough to be called the

“World Economic Olympics”. In addition, it has a great influence on the World Trade

Organization (WTO) and the seven advanced Western countries (G7) meetings.

 

Unfortunately, however, there is still no international conference body in the field of

lighting that plays the same role as the “World Economic Forum”.

Therefore, we are not having ▲A place that setting the direction for the world's lighting

industry to go, ▲An opportunities for all parties in the lighting sector to meet regularly in

one place ▲A chances to exchange information and opinions about lighting in-depth      about world's lighting development.

 

Therefore, even with regard to the lighting industry policy unilaterally issued by the

governments of each country, it is difficult to escape from the position of the weak which

lighting companies and organizations have to follow it unconditionally.

However, this reality must be over now. That way, governments, local governments,

lighting companies, lighting organizations, lighting experts from all walks of life, and

lighting consumers can fairly discuss lighting policies, laws, and issues in an equal and

horizontal position.

 

In that case, the lighting industry, academics, culture, and arts of not only the world but

also each country will be able to grow and develop faster.

 

◆ 'World Lighting Forum' and 'World Lighting Day'

 

From this perspective, the'World Lighting Newspaper' is the World Lighting Forum on

October 21, 2020, the 145th anniversary of Thomas Edison's invention of the incandescent bulb using carbon filament on October 21, 1879. ) Officially announced the establishment plan.

 

In addition, October 21 was declared “World Lighting Day (WLD)” and decided to make it an “International Lighting Day” recognized by the United Nations and other governments.

Of course, lighting is an indispensable, important and beneficial industry for mankind.

Without artificial lighting, mankind might not have been able to create a civilized and

prosperous world as it is now.

 

Fortunately, with the efforts of great scientists like Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla,

electric lighting was invented in the 1870s. And electric lighting has been steadily

changing and developing over the past 145 years, contributing greatly to the development of industries, cultures and human life around the world.

 

Nevertheless, it is true that lighting is still placed on the periphery in terms of its

importance to the world industry. But lighting can no longer be placed on the periphery

of the world's industry. For that reason, the influence of lighting on human civilization,

culture, and daily life is too great.

 

Now it is time to bring lighting to the heart of the world industry. In addition, lighting

should be advanced, popularized, and made daily life. In addition, lighting should not only be viewed as an industry, but should be nurtured as “something of value” that gives

humans safety, security, health, hygiene, comfort, joy and happiness.

 

This is the 'spirit of the era' that requests and imparts to the world's lighting companies,

lighting company CEOs, lighting company workers, Scholars in the field of lighting,

Jurnalists in the field of lighting, lighting experts, lighting artists, and lighting consumers.

 

The first thing to do in order to realize that 'spirit of the times' is to create a 'place of     public opinion about lighting'. The “place of public opinion about lighting" is the “World

Lighting Forum.”

 

And this is the biggest reason why “World Lighting News” advocates and promotes the

establishment of a “World Lighting Forum” toward the world.
